They almost expect you to be perfect/robotic your WHOLE life and literally do not care if you are sick need a sick day, need down-time, it is like 24/7 non-stop work and ...absolutely no sympathy. You're like a cog in a machine or a robot, and get treated as such. disposable, and totally do not care.
This is like a perfect breeding ground for mental illness and sociopathy. lol.
l meant this with work/career mainly, but it is becoming the case with everything. You're expected to somehow know it all , and be capable for it all, and if you can not or are not they pretty much write you off or treat you horribly.
